Lodging Options

  • Snowshoe Mountain Ski Resort: Contact Central Reservations at 877-441-4386, Select option 2, then listen to the prompts (do not select any options with group in the title!) Once the option for reservations is offered select that option.

    -The system will transfer you to an agent. Explain that you are part of this race group and provide the group code. Once all the information is given to the booking agent then the discounted rates will be applied to the reservation. 

    Included with your Snowshoe Lodging are Fun Passes, which give you access to:

    -Scenic Lift rides on both ballhooter and western territory lifts (unlimited as long as the lift is open)

    -Access to split rock pools

    -Full lake access to beach area, inflatables, etc

    -Euro bungee and Rock Climbing wall (limited two uses per pass)

    -Access to Frisbee golf course that is around the Lake, Frisbees can be provided at the lake outpost

Driving Directions

From the North

From Elkins:

-          Follow 219/250 South to Huttonsville

-          For the most direct route to Cass – follow 250/92 through Huttonsville

o   This will be staying Left (straight) in Huttonsville on 250/92

o   Crossing over Cheat Mountain, through Durbin, Bartow (veer right to stay on 92/28) and through Green Bank (home of the Green Bank Observatory)

o   Take a Right onto Rt. 66 at the Cass intersection

o   Follow for 4.8 miles to Cass Railroad State Park

o   Once you cross the bridge, the main parking lot will be on your right. 

o   The main road (Rt. 66) turns left, up the hill, at the next right (100 yards), stay straight into the parking lot for the Community Center (across from the barber shop) and Packet Pickup

-          For the most direct route to Snowshoe – follow 219 South (Right) from Huttonsville

o   You would then need to follow Rt. 66 down the mountain to Cass Scenic Railroad State Park

From the Northeast (Franklin / Seneca Rocks)

-          Take Rt. 28 through Circleville (20 miles)

-          Take a Left at Rt. 28/250 (11 miles)

-          Take a Right onto Rt. 66 into Cass (follow directions above from Cass intersection)

 

From the East

From Staunton

-          Take Rt. 250 W (47 miles) to Monterey, VA take a Left at light onto VA-84/220  

-          Turn Right onto VA-84 to WV, follow WV-84, to take Right on Rt. 92

-          Follow 92 for 11 miles, turn Left onto Rt. 66 to Cass Scenic Railroad State Park

 

From the South:

From Roanoke

-          For the slightly less direct but flatter route: Take 581-N to 81-N to 220 N.

-          Follow 220 N to Clifton Forge, Left onto 64W

-          Follow 64W to White Sulphur Springs, Exit 92 N

-          From 92, you can follow 39 to Marlinton or 92 to 66 to Cass

 

From the West:

 From Summersville

-         Follow 39 E to Marlinton

From all other locations West (such as Charleston)

-          Follow 64 E to

-          Either the Lewisburg Exit to take 219 N to Marlinton

Or

-          To the White Sulphur Springs Exit to 92 to Cass

 

Please note: The most direct route from Marlinton to Cass is via Rt. 28 through Seneca State Forest to Rt. 66 into Cass.
